Goliath Grouper

Introduction
There are many endangered fish in the sea but this fish is one of the most endangered fish in the world.

This report is about the goliath grouper. The goliath grouper has just came back from being protected from people, and now there are just enough of them to fish for. They are extremely big fish, they suck the water into their mouths, and they suck the fish in too. These fish are so big they can’t catch their prey like other fish.

They live in deep water.


Their Predators:

They can hide or camouflage themselves into rocks to hide from their predators.
The predators are sharks, other Goliath groupers, swordfish, humans, salmon. They are slow when getting attacked and are defenceless without their pack. When they are with their pack then they will have a better chance of surviving. 

3. How do they catch food?

The Goliath grouper suck the fish into their mouths, and instead of teeth that the normal fish have when they suck the fish into their mouths, they have teeth at the back of their throat. The fish get sucked in and they get munched into little pieces.


4.How much do they weigh?

The goliath grouper are the largest fish in the western Atlantic. Growing to lengths of 8.2 feet (2.5 m), this grouper can weigh as much as 800 pounds (363)kg).

In Florida, the largest hook and line captured a specimen weighing 680 pounds (309 kg).



5.How long do they live for?

Goliath grouper are relatively long-lived, with a maximum known age to be at least 37 years old. However, some scientists estimate that these fish may have the ability to live over 50 or even to 100 years.
